VLVO LABEL

Official Terms and Policies

1. About Vlvo Label

Vlvo Label is an independent music label built around creativity, artist development, collaboration, and long-term growth. Our goal is to create a welcoming environment where artists can share their music, develop their individual sound, build an audience, and explore opportunities within the music industry. We believe every artist deserves respect, clear communication, and transparency when it comes to their music, earnings, and creative rights. Volvo Label aims to support artists while encouraging independence, originality, and a positive community.

2. Profit Sharing and Revenue Distribution

Vlvo Label follows a straightforward profit-sharing model designed to allow artists to retain the majority of their earnings. Artists receive 95% of eligible net profits, while Vlvo Label receives 5% of eligible net profits. The label's share is calculated from net profit rather than total revenue. Net profit is the money remaining after applicable music-related expenses have been deducted from revenue received. These expenses may include distributor fees, platform charges, refunds, chargebacks, and marketing costs approved in advance. Personal expenses and unapproved costs are not deducted from an artist's earnings. If a release generates revenue but has no remaining net profit after eligible expenses, there is no profit to divide for that period. Financial calculations should be recorded accurately, and artists may request an explanation of how their earnings were calculated.

3. Payment Eligibility

An artist becomes eligible to receive payment once their music has generated revenue, the funds have been received by Vlvo Label, and the earnings have been verified. Revenue displayed on a streaming platform or distributor dashboard does not necessarily mean the funds have already been paid to the label. Only funds that have actually been received and verified are included in the available payment balance. Artists must also provide accurate payment information and any necessary details required to process their payments. Earnings that are still pending, disputed, under review, or awaiting payment from a distributor will be included in a future payment cycle once they become available and are verified. Payment eligibility does not guarantee immediate payment if the minimum payment threshold has not been reached.

4. Minimum Payment Threshold

Vlvo Label uses a minimum payment threshold of $25 in payable artist earnings. An artist must have a payable balance of at least $25 to qualify for a scheduled payment. This threshold applies to the artist's 95% share after eligible expenses and the label's 5% share have been calculated. If an artist's balance is below $25 at the end of a payment period, the unpaid balance will carry forward to the next month. For example, if an artist has $18 in payable earnings, that balance will remain on their account until additional eligible earnings bring the total to at least $25. If the artist later earns another $12, the payable balance becomes $30, assuming no other adjustments apply, and the artist qualifies for the next scheduled payment. Earnings below the threshold are not forfeited simply because the minimum has not been reached. Artists may request an update on their current payable balance.

5. Monthly Payment Schedule

Artist payments are scheduled monthly, between the 1st and 15th of each month, for eligible earnings received and verified during the previous calendar month. This schedule gives Volvo Label time to review incoming revenue, confirm expenses, calculate the artist's share, and prepare payments accurately. For example, earnings received and verified during January are scheduled for payment between February 1 and February 15, provided the artist has reached the $25 minimum payment threshold. Earnings that arrive after the monthly accounting period may be included in a later payment cycle. If an artist has not reached the minimum threshold, their balance will carry forward until the requirement is met. Weekends, public holidays, bank processing times, payment provider delays, and distributor reporting schedules may affect when funds arrive. If a significant delay occurs, Volvo Label aims to communicate the reason and provide an update when possible. The payment schedule refers to the expected processing period, not a guarantee that every bank or payment provider will deliver funds on the same day.

6. Financial Records and Transparency

Vlvo Label values clear and accurate financial records. Artists may request a breakdown showing the revenue received for their music, eligible expenses, net profit, the label's 5% share, and the artist's 95% share. Where appropriate, records may also distinguish between different releases, streaming platforms, distribution sources, and other revenue streams. Any adjustments, refunds, or chargebacks that affect a previously calculated balance should be documented and explained. Additional deductions must be clearly communicated and approved in advance before they are applied. Our goal is to help artists understand where their money comes from, how their earnings are calculated, and when they can expect eligible payments.

7. Music Ownership and Creative Rights

Vlvo Label respects the ownership and creative rights of every artist. Artists retain ownership of their original music, lyrics, recordings, artwork, and other creative work unless a separate written arrangement clearly establishes otherwise. Permission to distribute, promote, license, or commercially use an artist's work should be established before that activity takes place. Working with Volvo Label does not automatically transfer ownership of an artist's music to the label. Artists are encouraged to keep copies of their original files, project files, release information, and relevant ownership records. Any special arrangements involving exclusive distribution, licensing, publishing, or ownership should be explained separately and clearly.

8. Copyright and Original Content

Artists are responsible for making sure they have the necessary rights and permissions for all material submitted for release. This includes instrumentals, beats, samples, lyrics, cover artwork, photographs, featured performances, and other third-party content. If another producer, songwriter, performer, or creator contributed to a release, the relevant permissions and credit information should be confirmed before distribution. Volvo Label encourages artists to respect copyright, give appropriate credit, and communicate openly about collaborations. Unauthorized use of another person's work may result in a release being delayed, removed, or reviewed until the necessary rights are confirmed.

9. Music Promotion and Marketing

Vlvo Label may offer promotional support, branding guidance, release planning, social media exposure, marketing opportunities, and assistance with artist development. The type and amount of support may vary depending on available resources and the needs of each artist. Promotional opportunities, playlist placements, audience growth, streams, sales, and other results cannot be guaranteed. Artists are encouraged to participate in their own promotion by sharing releases, engaging with listeners, providing approved promotional materials, and maintaining accurate artist information. Any marketing costs intended to be deducted from eligible profits must be approved in advance and communicated clearly.

10. Artist Responsibilities

Artists are encouraged to maintain professional communication, provide accurate information, meet mutually agreed deadlines, and submit music and promotional materials in a timely manner. Artists should make sure their release details, credits, artwork, and payment information are accurate. They should also respect the creative rights, time, and contributions of producers, collaborators, fellow artists, and other members of the music community. Honest communication helps prevent release delays, payment errors, and misunderstandings. If an issue arises with a release, payment, or collaboration, artists are encouraged to contact Volvo Label so that the matter can be reviewed and addressed appropriately.

11. Respectful Conduct and Community Standards

Vlvo Label aims to maintain a welcoming and professional environment for artists, producers, collaborators, and representatives. Respectful communication, honesty, cooperation, and fairness are important to our community. Harassment, threats, discrimination, fraud, impersonation, deliberate misinformation, and unauthorized use of another person's creative work are not acceptable. Concerns should be communicated clearly and handled fairly. Our goal is to encourage an environment where artists can collaborate, share ideas, develop their skills, and focus on their music without unnecessary conflict.

12. Creative Freedom and Artist Independence

Vlvo Label encourages artists to develop their own musical identity, experiment with different styles, collaborate with other creators, and pursue their creative goals. We recognize that every artist has a different vision, audience, and approach to music. Artists should feel comfortable expressing their individuality while maintaining respectful and professional communication. Volvo Label's general policies do not automatically require a long-term or exclusive relationship. Any specific exclusivity, distribution commitment, or additional obligation should be clearly explained separately before it applies.

13. Communication and Support

Clear communication is important to maintaining a positive relationship between Volvo Label and its artists. Artists are encouraged to ask questions about payments, profit calculations, release schedules, promotional opportunities, music ownership, and distribution. When an issue requires further review, Vlvo Label aims to provide clear information and reasonable updates. Artists should report suspected payment errors, unauthorized use of their music, or incorrect release information as soon as possible so that the issue can be investigated.

14. Changes to Financial Practices and Policies

Vlvo Label may update its general operating policies as its services and business needs develop. Changes should be communicated clearly, particularly when they concern payment schedules, minimum thresholds, financial calculations, or artist rights. Changes to an artist's established financial arrangement should not be applied retroactively without appropriate agreement. Any specific changes affecting existing ownership rights, distribution permissions, or other arrangements should be handled separately and in accordance with applicable law.

15. General Operating Policy

These terms and policies explain Volvo Label's general approach to artist support, profit sharing, payments, creative rights, promotion, and professional conduct. They are intended to make our operating practices easier to understand and help artists know what to expect. Specific distribution permissions, ownership arrangements, licensing terms, or other individual matters may require separate written documentation. Volvo Label aims to maintain a fair, transparent, and welcoming environment in which artists can focus on developing their music and building their careers.
